Agilent Technologies Expands Alliance with Cadence to Provide Fast, Efficient Wireless Product Development Solutions
PALO ALTO, Calif., May 27, 2003 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the expansion of its technology alliance with Cadence Design Systems Inc. (NYSE: CDN) to provide integrated design solutions for fast, efficient wireless product development.
Phase two of the alliance builds on the Agilent RF Design Environment (RFDE) by expanding current RF/mixed-signal IC circuit-level design capabilities to add wireless system-level verification and layout analysis. This is expected to help companies in the communications industry increase productivity and speed development of wireless products, as well as further reduce computer aided design (CAD) infrastructure and total ownership costs. The jointly developed products are expected to become available as early as the second half of 2003.

Agilent and Cadence announced phase one of their alliance in February 2002 and introduced RFDE at the 2002 Design Automation Conference. The Agilent RFDE is an EDA (electronic design automation) software platform that tightly integrates Agilent's leading RF simulation technologies into the Cadence industry-standard analog/mixed signal design flow framework. The 2003A release of RFDE, which offers new device models, RF measurement capabilities, data analysis and display features and support for Cadence IC 5.0, began shipping in May 2003. Hundreds of RFDE licenses have been purchased by dozens of companies including Altera, IBM, Motorola, STMicroelectronics, Toshiba and WJ Communications.
